Commissioning a Painting

Custom paintings are quoted on an individual basis with prices starting at $5,000 USD. Individual quotes are based on the degree of complexity both of the artistic composition as well as the historical and technical research required regarding the subject. Average size is 24" x 36", but any size is available and up to a certain point does not have a bearing on price.
For example, a painting of a quite simple composition, in the manner of "Dover Patrol" (see slide show below) which required a relatively small degree of research to assure historical and technical accuracy of aircraft and background, could be commissioned for $5000, plus shipping. In contrast, a painting of a much more complex composition and requiring a great deal of historical and technical research such as a "Rotational" is priced higher in proportion to the increased time and skill necessary to complete such a work successfully. This particular style of painting is more complex than most.
A typical custom painting usually lies in the $5,000 - $10,000 USD range but "the sky’s the limit". Quantity discounts can be negotiated for orders of two or more paintings placed simultaneously. Delivery time is approximately 6 - 12 weeks per painting, depending on Troy's schedule.
Stardust Studios requires a deposit of 1/2 of the total cost to be paid in advance* in order to initiate a commission. This will reserve a slot for you and enable Troy to devote time to the project which includes research and commencing work on preliminary sketches. The remainder plus shipping charges is to be paid upon completion, prior to shipping.
